Line/Copy Editing
Line editing is a content service where I focus on improving the overall flow and readability of your manuscript, paying close attention to how it engages the reader. I go line by line through the text to improve sentence structure, word choice, tone, and overall readability while ensuring I preserve the author’s voice and style.
Key tasks of line editing include:
-Improving sentence clarity and flow
-Enhancing tone and style to fit the intended audience or genre
-Eliminating repetitiveness and redundancy
-Tweaking awkward phrasing
-Balancing showing and telling
-Adjusting sentence length and structure for variety
-Ensuring that the author’s voice and style are consistent throughout
Copy editing is a grammar service where I focus on the technical aspects of writing, correcting spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors. I work to ensure the text is clear, correct, and consistent.
Key tasks of copy editing include:
-Correcting spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors
-Ensuring proper word usage/terminology
-Removing filling words, repetition, and redundancies
-Ensuring proper capitalization and hyphenation
-Checking for consistency of tense
-Maintaining consistency of names and specific terms
Turnaround Time/Investment
I combine line editing and copy editing services.
The investment for line/copy editing is $0.015–0.020/word, and projects range depending on the word count, the depth of editing required, and availability. They range anywhere from 2–8 weeks, averaging 3–4 weeks.
Style Sheet
Along with the manuscript, I provide a style sheet for you and the proofreader to use as a reference guide that outlines stylistic preferences to ensure consistency is maintained during revisions and proofreading.
A style sheet typically includes:
-style guide and dictionary references used
-silent changes that were made
-spelling and punctuation preferences
-capitalization and hyphenation preferences
-a list of grammatical areas where changes were made
-a note from me with my impressions, reactions, and thoughts on your book
Editorial Letter
Along with the manuscript and style sheet, I also provide an editorial letter where I highlight your writing strengths and outline specific areas for improvement to guide you during revisions.
The editorial letter is usually 1–2 pages, depending on the depth of the edit. A manuscript requiring more extensive editing will have more areas for improvement outlined, while one needing fewer edits will have less.
Proofreading
Proofreading is the final step in the editing process after all editing and revisions have been completed. It’s a final review of a manuscript to correct any remaining obvious errors, ensuring the text is as clean and error-free as possible.
Turnaround Time/Investment
Proofreading projects range from 2–4 weeks, depending on the word count, the depth of editing required, and availability. The investment for proofreading is $0.012.
Editing & Proofreading
This package includes a 10% discount on proofreading.
This service includes one round of line and copy editing and one final proofread with author revisions in between.
After editing, I’ll send your manuscript to you with tracked changes and comments so you can make revisions, ask questions, and answer any questions I had. When you return your manuscript to me, I’ll do the final proofread, making sure your style preferences are applied and are consistent.
Note: Projects up to 20k words have a minimum investment of $300. Projects 21k and above are charged at my per-word rates listed above.

Customized Self-Editing Checklist
A customized self-editing checklist includes a review of the first 30 pages of your manuscript to identify areas for improvement. I’ll provide a detailed list explaining those areas and offer revision suggestions using examples from your manuscript to show exactly how you can apply them to your writing.
This service is designed for authors whose manuscripts aren’t quite ready for editing and still need more self-editing and revision.
Examples of areas authors may have room for improvement in are:
-overuse of filler words
-repetitiveness/redundancy
-autonomous body parts
-false simultaneity
-dangling participles
-overuse of certain words/phrases (crutch words/phrases)
-over reliance on adverbs
Turnaround Time/Investment
Customizing a self-editing checklist range from 1–3 weeks, depending on my availability. The investment for this service is $250.
